I realized yesterday’s assessment was actually too generous. The other real reason geeks end up using “disingenuous” a lot is that geeks are very careful not to _lie_ - they will mislead, misdirect, and use VERY SPECIFIC and highly anti-social definitions of words so as to get the effect of lying, but so that if called on their lie, they can plead that they are being attacked, and point to the truthiness of their statements which is provable enough that they then “win” the conversation.

It’s kind of disgusting, but there it is.
